NATIONAL MUSEUM JAMAICA

NATIONAL MUSEUM JAMAICA

The Vincent & Patricia Foundation is a proud supporter of the incredibly important and impactful National Museum Jamaica and its ongoing enterprises. The National Museum Jamaica (NMJ) is the landmark national agent for the collection, preservation and documentation of Jamaica’s rich and diverse culture.  The museum’s mission is to increase knowledge and promote appreciation of Jamaica’s material heritage through public education on community outreach, research, community-based museums, special exhibitions and the collection and conservation of historic artifacts.

As part of the February 2020 “Jamaica, Jamaica” exhibition, one of the featured panels was dedicated to the contribution of the Chinese to the development of Jamaican music. Our co-founder, Patricia Chin – who is of Chinese, Jamaican and Indian descent, took center stage during the panel titled “Blackhead Chineyman: The Chinese Contribution to Jamaican Music” held at the Institute of Jamaica in downtown Kingston.

The Vincent & Patricia Foundation is fully dedicated to supporting the National Museum’s pursuit of promoting and preserving authentic Jamaican culture through special programming, funding and speaking engagements.
